A traveling projection-equipment mechanic works in Western Germany along the East-German border, visiting worn-out theatres. He meets with a depressed young man, and the two decide to travel together. Winner of the FIPRESCI Prize at the 1976 Cannes Film Festival, this is the film that put Wenders on the international stage.
