Suddenly, Last Summer

Queer Cinema: Double Feature

Join us for a double screening on Wednesday 19th November apart of Feast Festival!

Firstly a surgeon is assigned the case of a young woman whose aunt wants her lobotomised to cover up a family secret. Gore Vidal’s adaptation of the play by Tennessee Williams manages to escalate the work in every way, with Elizabeth Taylor and Catherine Hepburn escalating it still further.

Then shift gears with Tangerine (2015), Sean Baker’s vibrant, raw, and wickedly funny film shot entirely on an iPhone. Set on Christmas Eve in LA, it follows two transgender sex workers, Sin-Dee and Alexandra, on a chaotic journey full of heart, resilience, and wild energy. Groundbreaking and unapologetic, Tangerine redefined indie cinema and representation on screen.

This pairing spans more than 50 years of queer filmmaking. Contrasting a veiled classic with a modern, unfiltered street-level story.
