Roger Monk is a multi-award-winning film and television creator, screenwriter, script editor and script producer. Since winning the AFI, IF and Australian Critics Circle Best Script Awards the Teddy at Berlin Film Festival in 2002 for Walking On Water, Roger has worked as a writer and development producer in most genres and formats. He was head writer on the Emmy® Award winning series Nowhere Boys, with his pilot nominated for an Australian Writer’s Guild Award, as was his episode of Dance Academy. His other television credits include Secret Life Of Us, The Doctor Blake Mysteries, East of Everything and Itch. Roger was development executive at Essential Media for three years, where he nurtured original scripted projects with emerging and diverse writers. Recent credits include script editing the animation series The Strange Chores (Ludo Studios), writing and script editing the Netflix series Mr. Midnight for Beach House Pictures Singapore, and writing on the SBS crime comedy The Unusual Suspects, nominated for Best Miniseries AACTA in 2021 and featured in competition at Series Mania in France in August of 2021. Roger also wrote the feature film Paradise, a gay love story set in an offshore detention centre. Roger is developing the comedy Mortal Coil and the LGBT comedy murder mystery Hammer Head.
